dance school photography Leicestershire

We’ve been working with dance schools and groups for a long time now, and we are often asked to photograph students for portfolios, shows and end-of-term pictures. We love photographing young aspiring dancers – capturing their energy and style in fresh, modern images that show how far they’ve come in their dancing career.

We are always looking to build new relationships with dance and drama schools, and offer a generous 20% commission on all purchases, delivering prints to schools within 2 weeks of the photography session. We offer the option of a photoshoot at our own spacious studio in Burbage, or we can bring our portable studio to the school or performance location. We often photograph dance groups at dress rehearsals, and we are a quick, efficient and down-to-earth team of all-women portrait photographers with over 20 years’ experience.

Example prices for dance school photography include:

  • 8″x6″ mounted prints for £6.00
  • 10″x8″ mounted prints for £12.00
  • 1 image copyright-free CD for £10.00

We also offer gift vouchers with prices starting from £20.00 which make excellent raffle prizes for fundraising.

Photo Parties For Special Occasions

If you have a special occasion coming soon, whether it is a birthday party or a hen party, why not have a photo party? Combining fun and laughter with a lasting memory of your day, a photo party can simply be a part of your celebrations. You could choose to begin your day with a photography session to kickstart the celebration, or save it till the end of your day of fun.

All you need is to gather at least five friends and the photographer will give you all the chance to enjoy an hour as a model in a photographic studio. An hour filled with crazy poses, fun, music, changes of costume and above all, laughter. You can bring your own props in, or use some of the ones in our Burbage photography studio. You are even allowed to bring some drinks and nibbles for even more of a party atmosphere.

As the host of the party, you will be made to feel as special as possible, to make your birthday, hen party or whatever, a truly memorable occasion. And when all the fun is over, you can come back to view your images and choose your prints and your frame, then all your guests will be able to take home a mounted print, while you receive a framed print, as well as everyone getting a photo keyring.

Wedding Photography Through History

When wedding photographs first started gaining popularity, they were purely studio photography. There were no paper photographs that you could put into a wedding album; in fact not only were there no wedding albums, you considered yourself lucky with your one solitary photograph. The original wedding photograph was a daguerrotype studio posed portrait on a small sheet of copper.

Soon after the birth of photography people began to use it to capture the memories of their weddings. At first they would often recreate the wedding scene in a studio, although some would simply pose in their best outfit (not the wedding dress!) either before or after the wedding as it was easier. Once cameras became more portable, the photo began to be taken on the actual wedding day, but still with studio quality lighting which the photographer would bring along with them.

You may think that with the advent of colour photography in the beginning of the 20th Century, wedding photos would start to be in colour, but you would be wrong. For a long time colours would quickly fade, so people stuck with black and white. After the second world war that wedding photography started to change more dramatically and weddings began to be recorded with more than one photograph; the ceremony and celebrations would be captured too. The 1970s saw the biggest transformation of the wedding photography industry with the introduction of a journalistic style of wedding photographs. This is still a large part of wedding photography, although it is also traditional to have a series of posed shots of the happy couple and their new family.

Wedding Photography

In recent years, digital photography has enabled wedding photographers to take many more photographs over the course of the day, and even to check each shot before the subjects move away. It also allows for more correction of the photos after the event using photo editing software.

Why Not Try A Boudoir Photography Session?

If you have never considered boudoir photography because you felt it would be embarrassing or awkward, you should think again. As an all female photography company, we have the empathy and the experience to put you at your ease. We also know what sort of poses will suit you best, no matter your age, figure or size, so that you feel gorgeous and end up with some stunning images.

Before the shoot we would have a consultation with you so that we know what you are hoping to achieve. This gives you a chance to get to know us and start to feel more comfortable, and to discuss what type of shots you would like, and what you would prefer to be wearing in each. If there is a part of your body that you feel particularly self-conscious about this is the perfect opportunity to tell us. That way we can make sure we draw attention away from it. With good boudoir photography, it is as much about what is hidden as about what is on show. A barely there glimpse of you in the dark wearing some sexy lingerie with a spotlight just highlighting your face and some skin is subtle, sensuous and very sexy.

Hopefully you will enjoy your photoshoot; they are usually occasions for much laughter and giggles. Next comes the really exciting bit – seeing the end result! You will probably be amazed at how fantastic you look; a good boudoir portrait photography session can be a tremendous boost to your self esteem.

You may have decided the photographs will be a gift, or perhaps you want to keep them for yourself, to remind you how beautiful you are if you ever start to doubt it. Many women choose to give the photographs to their fiances as an extra special wedding gift; some beautiful and sexy photographs of the woman they love are bound to be a gift that is treasured for the rest of their life.

Bump Photography Ideas

If you are currently pregnant, you probably feel a lot like time is rushing past and you want to remember these precious moments before your baby arrives. I’m sure you’ve seen some of the beautiful examples of bump, or maternity, photography out there. If you want to try to recreate some of those images on your own (with the help of a tripod and a camera with a timer, or with the help of your partner), we’ve put together a brief guide and few ideas for you to use as inspiration.

Before you start, take the time to prepare. If you want professional looking photographs, you want to make it as easy as possible for the camera to take a good picture by itself, with no need for touching up or any other messing about with photo editing software. So why not use this as an excuse for some pampering?! A trip to the hairdressers for a restyle, or even just a blow dry, can make you look good from the inside out. Then take some time to apply your make up. It is best to stick with natural tones and allow your pregnancy glow to shine through, but if your hormones have run riot with your skin, anything you can do to even out your skin tone will help the camera ignore the blemishes!

Once you are ready, try to find a clean backdrop. A plainly painted wall if possible, or just hang a white sheet behind you and let it drape across the floor. Then decide if you want to actually get your bump out. Some women prefer to leave it covered, but you always have the option of using some sheer fabric to cover yourself enough for comfort while also showing off your bump.

As for poses, the world is your oyster! Shots that show your bump next to a pair of tiny baby booties are adorable, and if you know whether you are having a girl or a boy, you could drape a little newborn outfit across yourself, or hold it above your belly. Another commonly seen shot is of the mother holding her hands in a heart shape on top of the bump, and if you can get your partner in the shot, their hands underneath yours shows the love your baby has waiting for it.

Maternity Photography in Leicestershire

If you don’t want to do the traditional semi-naked shot of you covering your breasts with one arm and cradling your bump with the other, you can get some similar shots by wearing an over-sized white button up shirt with only the buttons across your chest done up.

For those of you who already have other children, and can convince your other children to pose, a shot of the future big brother or sister kissing or touching your bump is always a winning image. Whatever shots you take try to have fun… this is only bump photography; this is time to celebrate your growing baby and your growing family.

Pampering For Pregnant Ladies

We know how it feels when you’re pregnant – at the start you just feel sick all the time, then at the end you feel huge and ungainly. If you’re one of the luckier ones, you will spend your second trimester, glowing over a gorgeous bump. However, we also know that you are beautiful throughout all the stages of pregnancy, as your baby grows inside you, even if you don’t always feel it.

Maternity Photography

A session of maternity or ‘bump’ photography is the perfect excuse for a bit of pampering you time.  Why not take some time to pamper your growing body, and celebrate the life you are growing inside you. Whether you have a whole day you can spend on yourself, or can only steal a few hours here and there over the course of a week, there is plenty you can do to indulge yourself.

Why not start out at the spa with a mum to be massage, and a facial, so you are totally relaxed and your skin is in its best condition. Since you know that at the end you will be having your photo taken, next you could go to the hairdresser for a restyle. By this time you should be feeling pretty good about yourself, but why not finish by having your make up applied professionally? Something that leaves you looking naturally beautiful and yes, glowing, even if you don’t feel it!

Now you are feeling fantastic, it’s time to step into our studio and let us work our magic! We will put you at ease (as if you aren’t relaxed enough already!) and make sure that you get some stunning photographs of your beautiful bump. After all, it is only here for a short time before the baby arrives, and while it may be hard to believe now, you will miss it when it’s gone.

Maternity Photography With The Siblings To Be?

If you’re pregnant and have been thinking about having some maternity photography done, you may have just imagined it would be you in front of the camera, perhaps with some extra shots including your partner. If you already have other children, why not consider including them?

Children can bring a bit of energy to a photoshoot, and it is always lovely to see the whole family together, even when the newest member is still only a bump! As with any photoshoot, bringing a few props can help to kick things off, and children usually have some eye-catching favoured toys they can bring along. Some ideas include a toy stethoscope so they can pretend to listen to the baby, or even a car to roll along mama’s tummy.

One of the loveliest things about bringing your other children along for your bump photography is that you can get some adorable shots of little hands holding the bump, or placed protectively atop it. And I defy anyone to look at a shot of a future big brother or sister kissing their mummy’s bump and not melt!

If you choose to have both before and after photo shoots, choosing to have all your children present means you can capture some wonderful images of the newborn baby surrounded by their loving siblings.
